But, the forecast is good for tomorrow. Make the most of it…
Our son is here, helping my husband with the Scimitar, that is his Reliant Scimitar, sports car. An old classis that has had an annoying problem. The engine, when it gets hot, fails and he daren’t take it out too far.
M got some parts and so far (touch wood) it seems to have worked. They gave it a small test run round the block and no problems. I really hope this solves it for them although with these old cars there is always something going wrong.
It is lovely to have M here, even if it’s for a short time.
Thank you for your comments, it sounds like you are writers as well, tell me more…
I havn’t finished this Never Let me Go by Ishiguro, about cloning children for donating organs. I think it’s horrible but will finish it as I have to answer questions on it for the class.
I have so much to do and havn’t visited my old lady friend in hospital for ages. I havn’t even rung up to see how long she is going to carry on bed blocking – she doesn’t need to be there, she should be in a home.
Very sad really.

I think I’m sorting out this photo – computer-printer problem. Had a good look at it all this morning and I need to get a USB cable to link the Photosmart printer with the computer.
The epson printer does not do very good colour, even with using photo paper. I’ve worked out how to save photos into the Hp Photosmart and read lots of tips so it is slowly falling into place.
I’m quite happy to admit that I’m being a bit stupid with this but I’m slowly learning all about it. It’s not so easy to understand it all at my age.
We have an interesting session on the course last night. H read some of her work, it is very good. Also talked about herself. Her husband died six months ago and she is now trying to work on her novel. She also runs a herbal, altenative medicine business. She brings her chihuahua dog to the evening. It has very attractive colours, one has flashing lights.
I’ve just ordered two books from Amazon to read, Breathing Lessons by Anne Tyler and A Short History of Tractors in the Ukrainian.
We are reading Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro which I do not like. I’ts about children who are reared up to be donors for spare organs for people. You could say it’s impossible but I think the Nazis were using people in a very cruel way in the last war.
He writes in a very interesting way but I wouldn’t want to read any more if this is what they are like.
Kim and myself had a good walk out today, the roads are drying up and parts have been swept of debris by the council.
Small is having a game of snooker every night. He jumps on the table and likes to try and get the balls out of the pockets. I roll them across for him and he jumps after them. I think he could play but he likes to cheat.

I’ve been trying to enlarge and upload a photo to send to the magazine to go with my Spring article.
I’ve managed to scan and enlarge it on Epson PhotoSmart but cannot seem to get beyond that.
I’ve saved it in Microsoft word but lost it again.
I’ve been hours doing this and I’m going to give up. Next time M comes perhaps he will help me. Or I could ring the lady who sold me this computer and she could talk me through it.
I’ve got plenty of work to be getting on with. I have to revise the 2nd chapter of my novel to take to the course on Fri.
Small likes to climb all over the printer and round here, today he turned the printer on with his paw and was fascinated by the whirring noises. I shall take a photo, but don’t know if I can send it on….
It’s very windy here again, but supposed to be better tomorrow. Kim hasn’t had a walk on the roads for a week because of the rain.
I’ll hope for inspiration tomorrow.

Had my 2nd novel writing course session last night. J has set me 3 tasks for the week, one of which I have completed today, (the easier one).
I have to write up a family tree for the characters. I have already written about them in an exercise book, but talking to her last night, I’ve forgotten some of the names! This morning I’ve set it all out on 3 A4’s, tidied them up, and most importantly given them dates of birth and deaths. The novel starts in 1801 and will finish in 1825 and I have to know how old they are at certain times and that what they are doing is appropriate for their age. I can’t have a girl of 8 having a baby.
It was a good exercise as it jogged by memory and made me feel quite pleased how the characters all interact and mesh into the story.
We had to do a synopsis last night but I didn’t do much as I had a 1 to 1 chat with Jane. She wants me to finish it in about 140,00o words, I’ve done about 120,000. This week I must tidy up all the chapters into sequence and produce a 2nd chapter to read out next week.
She likes it very much which is nice. Some of the others on the course have done quite a lot of work. We are all very diverse.
I must write up my journal after this. The weather is wild and windy and affecting the phone line. I have changed line providers so I can get broadband soon and this has affected emails this week. It should be OK now.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t all turn green with mould and algae from all the rain. It’s not cold, about 10 degrees but looks so depressing when we can see nothing but mist.
Kim probably thinks she’s never going to get another walk but I’m not going out just to get wet. She doesn’t like it much anyway.
Hurry up Spring, we have daffodils out and the tulips are coming up.
Bye

Plenty of it. The roads are flooded. There is so much debris on the roads, stone has washed down off the fields and it is all a mess.
The council policy of tarmaccing the road across without allowing space for ditches does not work. Where there is a ditch they don’t dig runoffs so that the water can drain away. I wish I could go around with a spade, I’m sure I could do some good. Potholes are getting worse and when the road is flooded you cannot see them.
The water was lapping right up to Llechryd bridge this morning and by 4.00pm the bridge was closed. It all looks very sinister. I hate floods
Amnow assisted by Small who went up the field with John this morning to help check the sheep but he gave up at the top of the first field and sat down ad waited for John to come back. John picked him up and carried him back, he (Small) only has little legs but large purrs.
He is watching the screen, he’s being taught to sit and seems to want to learn to type.

For some reason, unknown I have to use the tab to be able to post.
Have been for my first novel writing couse session tonight. They like the beginning of my novel although they would like some more detail about one of the characters. We are all ladies apart from a son who is with his mother.
Some of them have come a long way, there seems to be no other course like this so I’m lucky it’s only 7 miles.
You havn’t had any news of our friend Small for some time.
He is growing and still has a fascination for water. If I forget to put the lid down he is jumping in the bathroom toilet. I have stopped that now as he is also sitting in the kitchen sink ttrying to work out where the water goes to. We have never had a cat with such interests.
The lambs have all gone today, John had an average price for them, they have gone on to another farm to be fattened up. It will be less work for him.
It’s turned cold now, very chilly with rain in the air, snow forecast for tomorrow. We need to get supplies in, in case we get snowed in.
It’s late and I must go to bed, I’ve got lots of writing work to start tomorrow.
Au revoir
